An editor and major contributor of the International Society for Automation’s ISA -95 Standard and Smart Manufacturing Integration Framework. Charlie Gifford, an Intelligent Manufacturing Consultant and Teacher for the past 35 years, developed advanced manufacturing systems in 12 industries including aerospace, electronics, food and beverage, CPG, mining, O&G, telecom, energy and life sciences. As an internationally recognized expert, his hands-on design methods and team leadership combine Lean6Sigma practices with Agile design and ABC ROI methods to build intelligent manufacturing systems. His digitalization assessment methodologies are successfully applied for 15 years across more than 10 Global 1000 companies. An industry leader in smart mfg. organizations such as ISA/IEC, APICS/Supply Chain Council, OPC Foundation, and MESA International, he authored and taught Intelligent Manufacturing Standards, such as ISA-88/95/106, OPC-UA and SCOR models. He published over 60 papers, 5 books and 25 courses on optimization best practices. His books, The Hitchhikers Guide to Manufacturing Operations Management: ISA-95 Best Practices Book 1.0 and When Worlds Collide in Manufacturing Operations: ISA-95 Best Practices Book 2.0. were awarded ISA’s Best Standards Book of the Year in 2011 and 2013; Also awarded the 2007 MESA International Outstanding Contributor Award.
