Around 25 years ago Nelson took over one of the first digital roles Johnson & Johnson had to offer: It was mainly doing the first video calls within the pharmaceutical industry in the US. Since then, not only Nelsons roles at Johnson & Johnson changed but also Asset Management in the Pharmaceutical industry changed to become more and more digital. Furthermore, the industry is at a crossroads. Should companies further outsource their Asset Management or rely on internal expertise. While it is possible for big pharma to experiment with new technologies, generics must maintain a lean budget. But big companies rarely outsource their maintenance as well, as they must be very cost-conscious and rely on their internal maintenance crew to work efficiently. The question arises whether outsourcing is always the best solution – however, no one is currently approaching the issue from an asset management perspective.
